G&A wins two gold awards for a print/online campaign for the Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE) and a FirstCaribbean International Bank ‘bank@school’ viral campaign.

This year we brought home two gold and two silver ADDY awards. The two golds were received for a print/online campaign for the Barbados Stock Exchange (BSE) and a FirstCaribbean International Bank ‘bank@school’ viral campaign.

Silvers were the prize for the previously mentioned bank@school campaign and a television commercial for Unicef entitled, ‘They are never too young to learn”.

Three out of the four awards were won in the area of online promotion, a medium with much untapped potential. We have to laud our clients’ trust in us as we break ground on their behalf. The proof of the pudding i.e. a campaign’s effectiveness is really in the eating i.e. public response, and that we can boast of. The recognition for our achievement is icing on the cake.

“I think awards programmes are critical on a number of levels. First and foremost, it’s a big pat on the back to individuals and teams who work hard on these winning projects and it inspires the entire agency to strive for excellence. It validates the agency to those who work there, the talent community and of course to potential clients and the greater public. It reminds the winning client that they picked the right group (in case they forgot). And who can forget bragging rights? Agency people are an ego-driven bunch and live to be told that they are the best thing that God ever made… and a physical award is proof.” Allison Cadogan, Executive Creative Director.

So as we bask in these awards and cogitate on our genius: to the team a resounding; ‘GOOD JOB!!!’… now back to work!

PHD engaged top local ad agencies to compete for the account by presenting ideas on how best to position this brand and G&A took the prize.

In response to challenges in the marketplace, Pine Hill Dairy (PHD) set out to heavily market its Caribbean Pride range of juices with a fresh campaign aimed at a growingly health conscious and well-informed audience.

PHD engaged top local ad agencies to compete for the account by presenting ideas on how best to position this brand.

And here we are.

We recognized that Caribbean Pride could not boast of high juice content like their rivals Ceres and Tropicana, therefore we developed a campaign that extolled its strengths of flavour and fun.

We developed the theme ‘Liquid Joy’ and executed print, point of sale, out-of-home, vehicular signage and television advertising to convey the desired spirit. Our understanding of, dietary trends, the consumers access to information and their demand for critical product information to guide buying decisions, led us to determine that Caribbean Pride must compete honestly on the basis of its true selling points.

Team G&A is celebrating the successful completion of its largest and most challenging publication project to date.

The company’s brief was to design a distinctive 100th anniversary commemorative publication for the client, The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited (BL&P).

The result, Powering Our Nation’s Progress: The Story of Electricity Service in Barbados, 1911- 2011, is a series of stunning period appropriate photo essays echoing author and historian Dr. Henderson Carter’s text.

Former Art Director Jason Mayhew collaborated with Associate Creative Director Marlo Hunte to create a stunning publication cover concept and editorial design. Mayhew also worked closely with the client on the page spread photo composites and general layout composition, ably completing revision after revision until the final product was achieved. G&A also coordinated the printing, shipping and final delivery of over 6000 copies for the client. This was a huge undertaking considering that the book was printed over 14,000 miles away in China, where Managing Director Devin Griffith was on the spot to ensure that any pre-press issues were addressed to client satisfaction.

Associate Creative Director Marlo Hunte, assisted with initial sourcing of dozens of images, while Account Coordinator Dianne Squires led the project through the critical final ten months of its two-year production schedule.

When BL&P launched the publication on May 21st with a cocktail event, Managing Director, Peter Williams noted his pleasure and pride with the publication and with G&A’s outstanding work on the
project.

In December 2009, G&A launched a new financial services brand to an audience of journalist and media officials in Kingstown, St. Vincent. The St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ltd (SVCB) has been an indigenous financial services provider committed to the advancement of citizens from all strata of Vincentian society.

Affectionately known as the Penny Bank, SVCB has always paid special attention to the needs of the lower income earner. However, while the goal of the bank is the betterment of this segment, they have a renewed vision for the other market segments. “We are proud of our heritage and what we have been able to achieve over the years. Because of our flexibility anyone can open an account with us for as little as ten dollars. Policies such as this have allowed ordinary people to be comfortable with the concept of wealth creation and investing in their future. That is a feather in our cap and we want to build on this.” says Laverne Velox, Manager and Secretary of the Board. “We have always been the bank for everyone, so we are looking with even more intent at the other markets, the lower to upper middle classes and the wealthy. Our new visual brand identity and slogan will strongly reflect our heritage and speak to our vision going forward.”

G&A developed a new brand identity that utilizes the bank’s corporate colours of blue and copper. The representation of the penny is maintained, though with a more stylized rendering. The logo’s typography has a traditional look and feel and visually speaks to a rich heritage, while the slogan uses a modern typeface and alludes to the bank’s future.
