G&A Launches The New St. Vincent Cooperative Bank Brand

In December 2009, G&A launched a new financial services brand to an audience of journalist and media officials in Kingstown, St. Vincent. The St Vincent Cooperative Bank Ltd (SVCB) has been an indigenous financial services provider committed to the advancement of citizens from all strata of Vincentian society.

Affectionately known as the Penny Bank, SVCB has always paid special attention to the needs of the lower income earner. However, while the goal of the bank is the betterment of this segment, they have a renewed vision for the other market segments. “We are proud of our heritage and what we have been able to achieve over the years. Because of our flexibility anyone can open an account with us for as little as ten dollars. Policies such as this have allowed ordinary people to be comfortable with the concept of wealth creation and investing in their future. That is a feather in our cap and we want to build on this.” says Laverne Velox, Manager and Secretary of the Board. “We have always been the bank for everyone, so we are looking with even more intent at the other markets, the lower to upper middle classes and the wealthy. Our new visual brand identity and slogan will strongly reflect our heritage and speak to our vision going forward.”

G&A developed a new brand identity that utilizes the bank’s corporate colours of blue and copper. The representation of the penny is maintained, though with a more stylized rendering. The logo’s typography has a traditional look and feel and visually speaks to a rich heritage, while the slogan uses a modern typeface and alludes to the bank’s future.
